Genesis 3:13
Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” She said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
Adam and Eve were the jewel of God's creation. God did not withhold anything from them, but expected only one thing, that they do not eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge- that they trust and obey Him.
The serpent's first strategy to jeopardize God's plan was, to cast a doubt on what God had said. “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden?”Genesis 3:1  He made God look like a "killjoy".
How often we misunderstand God, we misunderstand the Christian life, when in fact, it's most exciting. We have God at work in our lives, He gives us abundant life and there  is purpose and meaning to our lives.
Through Jesus Christ, we have peace, joy and hope. We have the assurance of forgiveness. We are the object of His loving kindness. He is with us through life's battles, giving us victory at every turn and so much more...
God has set rules in His word not to make us miserable, but to protect us from deceit, despair, and destruction. Trust Him with your life.

Obey God immediately. Obey God even if it doesn't make sense. Obey God even when you don't see a personal benefit. Obey God even when it is painful. Obey God to completion.

Living By The Flesh Or The Spirit?
Preached Sunday Morning for Riverview Baptist
Photo by Erik Mclean on Unsplash Romans 4:1-3 (KJV) What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? 2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. 3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. A Quick Review To This Point As God talks to us about genuine…

The Second Commandment and Prophecy
October 16, 2024
Welcome! Last week we talked about the First Commandment, which said ‘you shall have no other gods before Me.’ This is the Lord telling us that He alone is God and we should worship only Him. Anything that causes you to turn from God violates the First Commandment and is sinful.
This week’s offering is The Second Commandment and reads as follows:
“You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.” (Exodus 20:4-6)
It is true that in ancient times, when the Lord gave Moses these commandments, many people groups worshipped idols, carved images and statues. He was telling the Hebrews this false idolatry was unacceptable. The practice continues today in many cultures. In our current society we do not worship false images – or do we? How about your favorite sports team? A hobby? A movie star? A child? Maybe our false worship is not so much different than the ancients.
Taken together, these two Laws tell us that God has a right to demand your exclusive devotion and loyalty and, in the second, He commands us to avoid paying lip service to the Lord while in your heart you are consumed by worldly gods!
Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. I have sworn by Myself; The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, And shall not return, That to Me every knee shall bow, Every tongue shall take an oath.  (Isaiah 45:22-23)
This prophecy by Isaiah will be fulfilled by Jesus’ return to earth to reign for a thousand years! Isaiah’s prophecies date from 755 B. C,
My intention is to give you the Law of God (for our purposes, Then Ten Commandments) and to follow with prophecy. For by the law is the knowledge of sin. The prophecies were written hundreds of years before Christ was born. It is thought that you will attach Truth and significance to prophecies fulfilled hundreds of years after the were given. You can trust the Bible; the Word of God.
Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. (Romans 3:20)
This means that following the Law, obeying the Law, will not save you. Salvation comes by accepting Jesus as your Lord and personal Savior.
So, why then obey the Law? Because God tells us to, silly!!
When we turn our backs on God and disobey, He does not give up on us, but instead, two thousand years ago sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the penalty for our sins, giving us the opportunity to get right with God; to become righteous!
I cannot guarantee much, but I can promise you that if you will surrender your heart and soul to God and His Son, Jesus you will experience unimaginable peace and contentment while on this earth.
You are in my prayers daily asking the Lord to Bless you and your families and to bring you to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
Thank you for reading!

My heart is trying to live again. Time to rekill it
Do not follow your heart. Nowhere in the bible does it say to follow your heart. Follow God and do what you know is right by Him.
